SWC scholarships for Trade/Apprenticeship and Traditional 2 – 4 year college or university

Award amount: $1,000.00

Number of awards: One Trade, two Traditional

Student residency requirement:  Must currently be living in Southbury or Middlebury

Is financial need a requirement? No, financial information is NOT wanted nor requested.

Transcript required? Yes

Other Eligibility Factors: Must have demonstrated commitment to community service. Must be graduating and moving on to a trade school/apprenticeship-type program or other 2 – 4 year college or university.

Essay is required. Topic: 
Why is community service important? How has it personally affected you and your goals, and what role do you hope to play in it in the future?

When will a decision be made? A decision will be made by May 10, 2019.  Guidance Counseling offices will be notified of the decision by May 11, 2019.  Recipients will not be contacted directly. The announcement of the award will be at the discretion of the school.  The award will be made directly to the College/School.

Southbury Women's Club

How to Apply


The Southbury Women's Club (SWC) is currently accepting applications from graduating seniors who reside in Southbury and Middlebury for three of their scholarships.  One for students applying to a technical college or apprenticeship program and two are for students beginning their higher education at a traditional 2–4 year college. The recipients are selected by the Southbury Women’s Club scholarship committee. Deadline for application/essay submission: April 20, 2019. 

A fourth scholarship is available and is restricted to graduating seniors at Pomperaug High School who have or had an IEP or 504 plan during their time in high school.  This scholarship recipient is selected by the high school guidance counselors, and you should contact your guidance counselor directly to apply.
