We are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow! Please prepare for the cold weather and winds we are expecting. All runners and spectators should dress warmly, in layers of clothing (bibs must be visible on the outside). We will be working hard to hold a safe and enjoyable race.
For safety purposes, we will have a limited water station so please plan accordingly. We would like to avoid water on the road as this will freeze and present a dangerous situation. There will be plenty of water at the finish.
The race starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Gazebo on Main Street. We suggest you stay warm in your car until the race commences.
The Turkey Trot Committee
The Southbury Women’s Club along with its platinum sponsors, Michael Friedman Orthodontics, Waterbury Health and Overhead Door Company of Waterbury are pleased to announce that over 2,200 runners are currently registered for the Eighth Annual Southbury Turkey Trot to be held on Thanksgiving morning.
The majority of proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Southbury Food and Fuel Banks and the Needy Fund. The Kid’s Fun Run will benefit Children2Children, a nonprofit organization that distributes clothing and shoes to children in need locally and in third world countries. Participants are encouraged to bring gently used children’s clothing and shoes to donate to Children2Children.
Turkey Trot (5K) - 8:30 a.m.
The Turkey Trot will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. The race will start on Main Street (in front of 760 Main Street across from the Gazebo). Main Street will be shut down at 8:15 a.m. Please do not congregate on Main Street or line up prior to 8:15 a.m.
USATF CERTIFIED COURSE: The course route goes down Main Street South then turns right onto Oak Tree Road and then a left hand turn back on to Main Street South. Flat and fast!!! CLICK HERE FOR MAP.
In order to ensure the safety of all participants, please line up based on your race pace. Please allow the faster runners to line up at the front of the line. Participants with strollers, slower runners and walkers should line up toward the back of the line. No dogs are allowed on the course.
SWAB AND SAVE A LIFE! The Turkey Trot is not only for running but this year you will be able to swab, get onto the National Bone Marrow registry and possibly be a life-saving match for someone who is in need of a bone marrow transplant. It is a time of giving…so come to The Gym parking lot 8:00-10:30 a.m. to Swab and Save a Life!
Please Note: The Gym restrooms will not be available for use. There will be porta potties on Main Street at the start line and in The Gym parking lot.
We strongly encourage picking up your race packet/bib on Wednesday in order to enhance the race day experience by minimizing the volume of people at packet pick-up on race day.
