Operation Backpack

Back to School shopping starts early for Southbury Women’s Club members who work closely with Southbury Social Services to provide local children in need with school supplies. Last year, SWC provided over 70 backpacks to Region 15 children who may otherwise not have these supplies for the start of school. Each school in our district collects and provides SWC with every grade’s list of recommended school supplies. Using that information, each child receives a quality backpack filled with their school and grade’s required school supplies to ensure they have a successful start to the new school year.

Those wishing to help Operation Backpack may do one of the following:

  • Make an online donation by clicking here;
  • Purchase items on our Amazon wish list found here;
  • Mail a check to the following address:

OPERATION BACKPACK is a long-standing project of SWC and would not be successful without the amazing support we receive from the local community and local businesses. To cover the backpack expenses collection jars are placed throughout the community this summer.  We are also accepting donations through August to help support this event.

The Southbury Women’s Club is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization dedicated to serving the community through various public service projects.  Please consider donating to OPERATION BACKPACK today!

Southbury Women's Club sponsors several fundraising events and activities throughout the year, such as the CT Arts & eats (formerly the Southbury Fall Fine Arts Festival), Night Out for Charity, Celebrate PHS Graduates, Operation Backpack, the Southbury Turkey Trot, and An Evening with Santa, A full list with descriptions and links where applicable are listed below.
