SWC is open to all women (18 and older) who want to promote the goals of the club.  Members can be from Southbury or neighboring towns.  Each member is requested to actively support a committee of her choice, attend monthly meetings and help, when possible, with major fund raising projects.

SWC was founded in Southbury in 2001 and has been serving the community ever since.  Members make lifelong friendships and enjoy the rewards of working together to improve life in and around Southbury.  Each fall, the club provides Southbury students in need with backpacks filled with school supplies.  In 2008, over 65 filled backpacks were delivered to local families.  This year the club is planning it’s 5th annual Fall Fine Arts Festival on the Southbury Green.  New community events, including an Oktoberfest and a Southbury Garden Tour are also in the works for 2009 and 2010.  Some of the worthwhile organizations the club supported last year are Southbury Needy Fund, Fuel Bank, Southbury Land Trust, Bullet Hill School, Food Bank, Safe Haven, Southbury-Middlebury Youth and Family Services, Region 15 Perpetual Fund, Animals for Life, Friends of Pomperaug Music and The Audobon Society at Bent of the River.

SWC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is a member of the

Connecticut Junior Women.

Mission Statement
To combine the talents and interests of our members in order to enrich the community. Through club-sponsored projects and events, as well as collaboration with local support organizations, we will raise awareness of local need, demonstrate the importance of community service, and improve the quality of life for those in need. Within a culture of friendship and respect, we recognize that our club's success is a product of our collective efforts, both large and small.
